Fully Charged Toyota Auris HSD

This weeks Fully Charged Robert Llewellyn tries his hand at getting a bit technical while driving around the English countryside in the all new Toyota Auris HSD.

The Auris is a British built Toyota Corolla with the Prius hybrid powertrain bolted in. Interestingly even though tow plug in electric cars , the Nissan Leaf and Chevy Volt, go on sale this year Toyota missed the opportunity to beat their rivals to market with a plug in version of the Auris hybrid.

Interesting details include fuel consumption of 73 MPG (that's British Gallons) and some anecdotal research that shows Prius Taxi's now routinely passing 300,000 miles on the original NiMH battery packs and still going strong.
